To enable Ohio’s technology vision, the statewide enterprise has adopted a set
of technology goals toward which IT efforts will be directed. These goals
embody the mission and target the vision, making the future Ohio a reality.
The goals serve as strategic initiatives for the statewide enterprise. Supporting
each goal is a series of objectives. While goals are identified by number,
the number should not be read to indicate ranking or priority. Similarly,
the objectives provided for each goal are not intended to be an inclusive
set, but rather provide an approach for achieving the goal. The statewide
enterprise’s IT strategic goals and objectives are presented in the following
paragraphs.
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE DELIVERY
The statewide enterprise fulfills the expectations of citizens, businesses,
and
state employees by providing an easy-to-use interface and consistent customer
experience. These interfaces includes the use of IT systems to facilitate
face-to-face as well as electronic self-service capability, allowing for
direct, efficient, and transparent interaction with government information-based
services

and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government, making it
easier for agencies to conduct business in Ohio.

Security that ensures the protection of public information is built in multiple
layers e.g. physical, network, systems and applications. The statewide enterprise
monitors its IT networks and statewide applications for intrusion, protects
personnel and client information, limits access to authorized users, and
aligns with the goals of homeland security. This is accomplished by maintaining
a secured technology infrastructure, applications, and data to enable the
safety and protect the privacy of its customers, the citizens, businesses,
and employees of Ohio.

The statewide enterprise supports Ohio’s economy by implementing IT

of new and foster the expansion of existing businesses throughout the State.
They also support minority owned businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
The statewide enterprise acts to promote job creation and economic growth.

The statewide enterprise moves toward an enterprise infrastructure and architecture

BUSINESS CONTINUITY AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
The statewide enterprise continuously works to support business continuity
and disaster preparedness. All agencies, boards, and commission develop
and test procedures for recovering from natural or man-made failures and/or
disasters.
